Paranoia, an original composition by Spring on Let Them Talk.
Anita Spring was destined to become an entertainer. The daughter of touring musicians, Spring grew up seeing her jazz vocalist mother and double bass playing father perform with many influential Australian musicians. Spring started to perform jazz when she was just seven years old.By the time she was 15, Spring’s musical career was forging ahead and she was performing eight shows a week in Elvis the Musicalat the famous Footbridge Theatre in Sydney. Many other musical roles followed including Grease-the musical, The Burning Log Theatre Restaurant, a lead role in The Revolution Will Not Be Televisedand Bad Boy Johnny, where she worked withDoc Neason (Angels), Chris Bailey(The Saints) and Christine Anu. Later, Spring joined up again with Anu, touring across Asia, Australia, and New Zealand as a backing vocalist and was invited to sing alongside many other great artists including Tina Arena, Vanessa Amorosi and Powderfinger. Highly inspired to be a recording artist, Spring began writing her own music and at the age of 17 -after a chance meeting at the 1999 ARIAs - was signed to Universal Music. During this time, Spring travelled to London and wrote with Gary Kemp (Spandau Ballet), Trevor Steel and John Holiday (Escape Club), Pamm Shayne (who co-wrote genie in a bottle with Christina Aguilera) and Billy Burnette (Fleetwood Mac). In 2003, ‘Blink’, the first single from Spring’s album Paris Can Wait - recorded in George Martin’s Air Studios in London - climbed to Number 7 on the ARIA Australia Singles Charts. ‘Blink’ was later chosen as the title track on Danny Deckchair, a major Australian feature film. In recent years, Spring’s music career has gone full circle and she has returned to her roots and her deep love of jazz. She recently has returned from America and Europe, has toured Japan performing at the prestigious Blue Notein Nagoya and performed a sell out show in Hong Kong on New Year’s Eve 2009. 2011 will see Spring back in the studio to record her second jazz album which will comprise mostly of Spring’s original compositions. Her stunning debut jazz album Let Them Talk, which includes two original tracks (Stars & Paranoia), is available through Chaos Music, iTunes and www.anitaspring.com.
